Summer 2016: Accepted to Outreachy!

What is Outreachy?

Outreachy is a group of awesome people that help and empower those from underrepresented background groups in open source get involved. The program is open for women and non-binary internationally and for anyone who is Black/African American, Hispanic/Latin@, American Indian, Alaska Native, Native Hawaiian, or Pacific Islander. Anyone who applies to Outreachy is also encouraged to apply to GSoC (Google Summer of Code) since both programs run on similar schedules.

Why Outreachy?

I applied to the program because I want to contribute to Open Source projects. I've been using Open Source software for quite some time and I felt it was my duty to contribute and give back.

Working with Fedora!

One of the many organizations participating this summer is Fedora. I will be working with the developers maintaining the Fedora Kernel and my mentor will be Laura Abbott. Fedora is my favorite Linux distribution and I am excited to be participating. Looking forward to see what I will learn and what contributions I will be able to make.
